Hello
Thanks for your return.I think it is just a joke to say that it takes 6 month to upload a font let me tell you why because the font ''White Dream'' was modified on the 31 st of October 2021 it is in the zip file so now the font was put online the next day on the 1st of November if you can explain this to me i will understand and wait for my turn .Thanks again for your return

Possibly because Mans Greback, author of White Dream, has almost 50 million more downloads than any other author hosted on dafont. White Dream was approved by Rodolphe himself, rather than one of his staff.

@Cat.B: I like your work.

Nov 07, 2021 at 12:39  [reply]  Update to existing font?

You can add an illustration yourself. Go to My Account -> click the update link next to the font name, and follow the instructions. Submitting a revised version of a font already posted is handled by staff, and is probably a lower priority than approving new submissions.

Some years ago, when there was a short period of time between when a font was submitted and when it was posted, certain font authors used to intentionally submit fonts that were not in their final state, then they would submit a series of updates, so that their work would constantly appear on on near the first page of new fonts, and their download stats would be inflated whenever someone downloaded the newer version of a font they already had.

KatStill, try sending a private message to any font author who has a font hosted on dafont with this problem. They might not be aware of it, and they might correct the mistake and submit an updated version.

If I find this problem with a font, I just adjust the ascender/ descender value in my own copy with my font editor, but I don't circulate the revised version to anyone.

Always post the name(s) of any font(s),(and their author(s)) that have peculiarities you've noticed when starting a thread in the General Discussion forum. There are four different fonts on dafont named Ananda.

Chances are good that one of the forum moderators will be able to tell exactly what the problem is. toto@k22 knows everything that I know, and much more.

Oct 21, 2021 at 12:49  [reply]  Help With Website

You could try viewing dafont on a computer, instead of on a cell phone. Alternately, you could use page Aoom in your web browser. Were you unable to figure that out for yourself? If so,are there any more like you at home? I have some investment opportunities that might interest you.

Oct 21, 2021 at 12:45  [reply]  Download question

Most likely the font author did not set the ascender value correctly. The ascender is the portion of a font glyph that's above the height of regular flat topped glyphs. The descender is the portion of a glyph below the baseline. YOU don't need to know that, but someone who makes fonts does.

The Evil Dead font was made on November 24, 2002, and it's free. The three fonts by Daniel on dafont are the only ones attributed to him.

Sure, but it's 2021 dude! (thats the closest to a laughing face I could find)

dafont management cares a lot about the Font Identification forum; General Discussion, not so much. No new features have been added to General Discussion in at least fifteen years. Text formatting and inserting images has to be done with manual html tags. I wouldn't expect a delete comment option anytime soon.

You could always edit the comment and change the text to (deleted).

thank you for your huge response. Your way of producing is quite complex.
I've read them all however I'm still stuck.
Cepepdnant I thank you again

I can't draw anything with pencil and paper, and I'm left handed, but I draw on computer with the mouse in my right hand. My procedure, where most of the time is spent preparing the source graphics to be imported, works for me and other people who have creative minds but poor brain - hand coordination. I just need time, patience, and my old school software, but I get the results I want eventually. In Cabbagetown I drew a very crude image with MS Paint for the @ glyph, then did most of the designing in the font editor. I mainly make very detailed dingbat fonts, so trying to draw them from scratch in the font editor is not an option for me.

Here's a completed source image for a font I may complete several years from now:

I'll adjust the size as the final editing step. Scanfont 3 will create a vector of this source graphic ten editing units tall for each pixel of height in the imported source image. My 'artistic license is mainly limited to thickening lines around the border.

Save the .png images as monochrome bitmaps. You can import the monochromes into a font editor. That's how I make my fonts. I use ScanFont 3, no longer sold, and it doesn't work with Windows operating systems more recent than XP, but you can import monochrome bitmaps into Hi-Logic FontCreator. There are probably other font editing programs that can do that, too.

Aug 21, 2021 at 18:19  [reply]  written font

I use a lot of software and games that are incompatible with Windows operating systems more recent than XP. My solution was to have my repairman prepare for me a few computers that have an XP operating system, and none of them will ever be connected to the Internet. I move data between computers with a flash drive.

It's becoming more difficult to find laptops that have motherboards compatible with XP, which is why I am buying multiple machines. This is probably an easier solution to your dilemma than trying to get someone on this board to create custom software for your benefit, and probably less expensive..

@metaphasebrothel what coding do you use to make fonts that work on word?

I use ScanFont 3.13 to make fonts, (it was made in 1995, it's no longer sold, and it only works with Windows operating systems prior to Vista). I have other font editing apps, (FontCreator and FontLab Studio5), but I rarely use them - I only use FontLab Studio to generate .otf versions of .ttf files, to adjust embedding settings, or to change vertical metrics. My fonts have vectors created from imported monochrome bitmaps, and the initial vector size is ten units of x height for each pixel in the imported bitmap. I prefer to edit vectors at enormous sizes, then shrink them to a standard 700ish unit x-height as the final editing task. I don't think anyone else is currently using this software and procedure to make fonts, but it works well with my skill set.

I think I've only used 'Basic Latin' and Extended Latin' encoding, but the only font I made with a large character map was FixCystNeon.

Note that single quote and double quote have multiple glyph window addresses in a properly made font, and the typed glyph can look different in Word, as opposed to the display in Notepad. My .ttf fonts in the Cabbagetown .zip have some .otf features, (m-dash, n-dash and ellipsis), that aren't in a standard .ttf character map, but I had help with those.

If you want to see what font glyphs look like in ScanFont 3, check the read me .pdf file in the .zip of my Cabbagetown font family, available here on dafont. There are several illustrations of my node alignment theory. See the .gif image on the Cabbagetown character map page for a brief example of node alignment theory, without words.

@Marcram: Everything I know about making fonts that I didn't learn through trial and error was taught to me by toto@k22.

If it's always the same alternate font displayed, try uninstalling the alternate font, then test your new one in Word.

Look at your fonts directory in C:\Windows\Fonts. Do you have more than one version of this new font installed? Check by Date Last Modified, as they would necessarily have different file names.

Did you make an error, or not complete, the font and family name sections in the font header?

Is it possible that you have more than one installed font with the internal file name "Untitled", or similar?

Aug 04, 2021 at 14:38  [reply]  Author donation

I only have one font that has a commercial use licensing fee, and I negotiate what that fee would be on a case-by-case basis. I don't enable the 'Donate to Author' button on any of my fonts, because I don't want anyone to think that making a donation buys commercial use licensing rights. When you see a 'Donate to Author' button on a font site less reputable than dafont, chances are good that any donation will not necessarily go to the font author's account.

Wow, they give you 25% when you make a sale through their site. Who could pass up a deal like that?

Imperator small caps license document

Hi, I downloaded the Imperator small caps font and was wondering if you had the license document available to show how the font can legally be used?

Paul Lloyd hasn't released any new fonts in more than fifteen years. Don't be surprised if you find no current contact information.

There are a lot of professional quality fonts made before 2005 in particular that are 100% free for all use. In several cases, the designers were retired persons who had worked in typography prior to the digital age, and they designed fonts from alphabets that may only have existed in lead block formats.

Dieter Steffman used to grant commercial usages for his many fonts to anyone who asked him politely on his home page. Manfred Klein is retired from typography, and perhaps no longer alive. His last released fonts were in late 2007, and he sent me three fonts by e-mail that were works in progress in early 2008. He didn't answer my reply to that e-mail.
