I'm afraid you're permanently stuck with them. Every document, from now on, must have at least some Hiragana in it, no matter what you write.

*sniffle*

You guys wound me!

Commercial use includes any redistribution of images outside of your PERSONAL use. So, no, if you're using them and making album covers for other people, you're doing a commercial use, even if you're not charging for them. (IE, it's one thing to give one to a friend, it's a whole 'nother thing to give them to thousands of people over the internet.)

You won't be able to get Rihanaa into a font easily. She's stubborn that way. :P

But, this is a typehouse font, so you're probably a bit screwed on this one. Pirate versions and clones often skip the lower case, kerning, etc. that you'll be wanting.

Harsh, yes, but not inappropriate. A lot of guys get on here and think "Well, you just hit the 'make a font' button" and really don't give anyone here their due. I just want to point out that making good fonts takes time and effort and should be respected as such.

That said, I went ahead and made a full version of this font from scratch (XBall) and it should hopefully be up in a couple of days.

Or, pretty much right away - http://www.dafont.com/xball.font

No, I offered to remake the font completely - as in 'completely from scratch' in order to get a working, error-free, complete version. Full character set, italics, bold, the whole run.

I'm not going to offer to remake or tweak someone else's work for cash because that's unethical and I'm pretty sure violates their rights from here to high-water. I can and will quickly fix obvious errors to help someone else on the fly, often for free, but that's NOT what you asked.

No, you're asking for a professional level product at cut-rate rates. But if someone's willing to put in all the time and effort and then just give you all the sales/distribution rights to the font in perpetuity, then take the deal. Profit off of their stupidity!

You would have automatic commercial rights use, but the copyright of the font, distribution, would remain with me (and I could, for instance, release it here or resell it). A fully-commissioned work-for-hire would be much higher in price.

Correct, and that does NOT include a full transfer of rights. That would cost more.

I charge $40 an hour for custom work, and this would probably be a three to four hour job. It's not a terribly complex font, but I would have to match it to the source material perfectly. This really isn't a question of 'fixing' the font, as this specific one needs a complete 'do over'. :S

A DEMON version?! The power of Christ compels you!

Wow, that font is crap. Doesn't even have SPACING in it, much less anything resembling proper kerning. (I don't say this easily, as I don't like to poop on other fonters' work.. but, really, this one is bad. I had far superior fonts rejected here, and I honestly don't know how this one got allowed.)

Which font is it, specifically, and can you contact the author to add kerning pairs? Otherwise, there are a LOT of similar fonts out there to this one.

Might help if we knew what the font was and who made it?

May 18, 2013 at 19:32  [reply]  Trigga font?

It's hand-drawn with some 'gloop' effects on top of an existing font. The fact that the two G's are very different should provide the clue.

I could suggest my "Geddes" font, which has a similar style (particularly in the capital letters). http://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=geddes . It won't be an exact match, but will be close enough for government work.

My point was that there was nothing Libertarian (which requires respecting individual rights to property) about Meta's assertion. The convenient ignoring of individual property rights, particular in the name of 'being poor', is explicitly a communist mantra. You cannot be a Libertarian if you don't recognize the rights of others.

That's not Libertarian, Meta... that's rather explicitly COMMUNIST. Again, your whole argument comes down to "I'm poor, so I should get other people's work for free", which is extremely un-libertarian, as you exploit other people's work without recompense.

"I'm poor, so I should get other people's work for free" is hardly a good argument to make.. particularly on a site frequented by the very people you're ripping off!

Do we REALLY need a sticky that says "This is not a site for pirating font files!"?
