Pretty sure this is Berlin Sans, but the weight is hard to identify as this has either been manually condensed or else is viewed at an angle.

Two weights of 'Walkway'... not sure which, maybe 'Black' and 'Semibold'.

I believe the font for the text in the lower right is Eras demi ITC

There are a number of fonts here that are so similar to existing commercial fonts that it's can be extraordinarily difficult to tell them apart. I appreciate that fonts in certain categories are going to tend towards similar shapes, but the fonts I have in mind are handwritten fonts, which is where you'd expect the most individuality. This got me wondering about the way copyright law applies to typography... is it legal to recreate and publish a font that's all but identical to an existing commercial font?

The only one I can find that bears any resemblance to the name "FD 1166" is "Shree Gujarati 1166"... is this it?

Hi koeiekat... yes, I accept that giving reasons could lead to a protracted and pointless debate. Maybe simply letting an author know if a submission has been rejected would be sufficient? I mean, in the absence of a rejection notification, how long does an author wait before assuming (possibly incorrectly) that their work has been rejected?

I have, for example, submitted a font that has not yet been approved. In the meantime, I have developed two variations - bold and extra bold. Do I submit them? If my original submission was rejected, then there is little point in submitting these new variations. The alternative is to wait for my original submission to be approved, which brings me back to my earlier question: how long?

I appreciate this is a somewhat rhetorical question, since the webmaster is the only one qualified to respond, but I guess I'll wait the 3-5 weeks mentioned by metaphasebrothel and, if my fonts don't appear in the listings, assume they've been rejected.

Does it seem to you that the notification protocol is the wrong way round? Surely it would be better to have an email notifying rejection and outlining the reasons than to be left not knowing if you've been rejected or are just snared up in the backlog. I mean, if a submission is accepted, it gets listed and is self-evident. Or, am I missing an obvious reason why it is the way it is?

Hi... can anyone tell me how long it typically takes dafont to approve new submissions? I don't recall exactly, but I seem to recall my first couple of submissions were approved within three or four days. Since then, I have submitted several new fonts, the first of these being around six days ago. Does this suggest my fonts have been rejected, or is this within the normal range?

claudeserieux - I have no idea! This was my first attempt as designing a font and, as I mentioned in my original post, I went about it in a rather unconventional manner. I never even stopped to consider the baseline... my only concern was making sure the glyphs were aligned correctly relative to each other. Do you have experience using Type 3.2? If so, is it a simple process to re-align all the letters to the correct baseline?

metaphasebrothel - Thanks so much for your feedback. I do think the spacing is a touch too tight and will probably increase the bearings for the final version. Regarding the 'y'... could you be more specific about what it is you don't like?

I am working with a business partner on a new venture and we decided we wanted an original typeface we could call our own. Neither of us had ever designed a typeface so, after flipping a coin, the task fell to me. A demo of the current version of our font was uploaded to dafont.com recently and can be seen here:

It was created in Inkscape, then converted to .ttf using a free online converter. I have since used Type 3.2 to set the bearings (though believe I need to increase these a little as the text is more condensed than I would like). I haven't applied any kerning yet and there is currently only a very limited glyph set, but I would appreciate any feedback and advice.

As a side note, I notice the font is also now available on another site, though I never submitted it there. I wouldn't ordinarily have a problem except the other version doesn't come with my licence, so potential users have no way to contact me.

Is dafont.com associated with any other font sites?
