I have tried so many different things to get it to work. The fonts don't have an * next to them but are still not recognising them when I import a document. I think the fonts are managed by font book. I have relaunched Illustrator serval times but still no luck :(

Hello,
I really hope someone can help me and that this is the correct place to ask.
My new desktop MAC isn't recognising the fonts (I have downloaded from dafont) in existing illustrator docs which I created on my MacBook. It then substitutes them for another even though they are in the font selection. They do have an * next to them so I suspect this might have something to do with it.
