The upper and lower case E in Market Deco are different, on purpose, Robbinski12. It gives you a choice between two versions. Why on earth would you print business cards without doing a test printing on paper first? Don't blame the font designer for your oversight. it's quite clear in the character map: http://www.dafont.com/market-deco.font that the two E's are different.

21326, if you scroll down the page in Font Discussions forum, you will see a thread called "Looking at each others fonts". The discussions from other people who asked for feedback in the forums about their fonts is in that thread. If this thread disappears, it means that it was moved/merged into that thread, because of redundancy. When you do your next font, you should use that thread for commentary requests.

Nice page on Luc Devroye's site, by the way.

Following up after less than ten hours is annoying, systerin.

mirandarodriguez, one of my favorites is PetraScript, also known as PetrasScript, distributed, but not designed, by Elsner + Flake:

http://new.myfonts.com/search/petras+script/fonts/

Further to what koeiekat said in the above post, this applies to MS Word 2000 and MS Word 2003. I think this feature may have been removed from MS Word 2007 and MS Word 2010, but I'm not sure. I'm happy with the 2000 version, and have no plans to upgrade.

Anyway, if you want to use a font in an electronic document, (ie: not printed), so that other people can see the font in the document, (without having to first install the font), the font can be embedded. Note that not all fonts can be embedded. Embedding is a setting determined by the font designer. The only ways to tell if the font can be embedded is to open it with a font editor such as FontLab Studio5 or FontCreator, and check the settings, (or have someone do that for you), or to have the document viewed on a computer on which the font has not been installed, to see whether the embedding was successful.

To embed fonts in MS Word 2000/2003:

1) Install the font.

2) Type your document, with that font enabled, (only one font can be embedded within a document).

3) In Tools in the Menu Bar, Select Options...

4) In the Options dialog box, select the Save tab.

5) Check both boxes for 'Embed True Type fonts' and 'Embed characters in use only'. I'm not sure if Open Type fonts can be embedded.

6) Click the OK button to confirm the change, and close the Options dialog box.

7) Save the document.

Note: You shouldn't uninstall a font if you have embedded it in a document, unless you delete the document first. I uninstalled a fonr used in an embedded doc once, and it corrupted the document, and all copies of the font that I had on my computer, including ones in unopened .zips. I had to delete all copies of the font from my computer, and the document with embedding, and download a new copy of the font. Other people may not experience this same problem, but be warned that that CAN happen.

If you use a font in an electronic document, and don't embed it, (or if it's a font that doesn't allow embedding), someone else who views the document, if they do not have the font installed, will see the text in the default font for their version of MS Word, (ie: Times New Roman for Word 2000/2003; Calabri for Word 2007/2010).

These instructions are specific to MS Word 2000/2003. I can't give you embedding instructions or tips for any other apps.

I hope this information was useful to you, and others.

I have some questions...

so you mean it was a special order. Nobody else is using it?
Is there a similar standarized one like this?
It was made from scratch or it was slightly modify from standard model?

systerin, if you write with a pen on paper, letters appear, but no font is used. That's what hand drawn means. Someone wrote the letters of "Rousseau", either on paper, on with a graphics program on a computer. They didn't do an entire alphabet, only the letters to write "Rousseau". Each letter was created separately. We know that because the letters "u" and "s" appear twice, and they are different each time. The fact that the letters are not on the same baseline, (ie: both letter "s" are placed higher than the other letters), is a good indication that this is not a font.

Oct 01, 2010 at 17:45  [reply]  Font Request For Band!

You're probably better off to hire an art student in high school or junior college locally to do it. A hundred dollars is an incentive to someone in school. For a professional graphic designer, it's chump change. It would be one thing if you had a crudely drawn version of what you want, and you asked a professional to draw it for you, but you're asking for someone to both conceive and execute a vague concept for next to nothing. For $100, and I suppose that's Canadian dollars, not a 'Benjamin', you could buy a commercial license to a few of the 'free for personal use' fonts available here, and 'mix and match' letters. Check the Themes section here: http://www.dafont.com/themes.php, and maybe you'll find something within your budget, with a little bit left over for some beer and weed after the show.
