Does it happen to all the fonts that you installed yourself?

Or does it only happen to a specific a font? What is that font? I assume you got it from Dafont.
Also what specifically are you trying to do to say that the font does not work. What were you trying to type? I assume that when you say it appears in Microsoft Word, you mean that you see it on the list of fonts in Word's font menu.

Barcelona 2019-20
The real name of the FC Barcelona font for the 2019/2020 season used for the name and number on their players' jersey is FC Barcelona Play. It is a custom font for the exclusive use of FC Barcelona, meaning it is not available anywhere.
Any other name used to refer to that font means that that font is a knock off version of FC Barcelona Play. It might look the same but the quality is usually vastly inferior.
Note that there is another Barcelona custom font family named
FC Barcelona. It is different from
FC Barelona Play, also a custom font.

FC Barcelona Play the font that will be used by FC Barcelona on its European jersey for the 2019/2020. The one you showed is the plain version of the jersey font
The system fonts (the fonts bundled with your operating system) usually support Latin (English), Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, and others. I do not know about Macs but in Windows, Arial, Courier New, Tahoma and Times New Roman support Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew and Arabic. Look at the fonts you already installed in your computer.
Limit yourself to the characters that's on the font - alphabets (A-Z, a-z) and numbers (0-9). Do not use characters that are not on the font as these will show the "DEMO" glyph.
If for some reason you need other characters that were not included in the demo font, buy the full version of the font which costs US$28 at the foundry site or US$34 at YWFT
You can ask Chequered Ink if they are willing to do it

That is just spacing. Kerning is the adjustment you make to fine tune the spacing between two specific characters. Spacing is global for the character while kerning is local to the character pair.
I do not know how the admins assessed the fonts submitted here but let us just have a quick look at your font and the preview at Creative Fabrica will do. Look at the word HIMALAYAN. Notice that the letter Y is spaced out of sorts compared to the other letters in that word. There is just too much white space around that letter. That means you need to adjust spacing between the character pairs AY and YA. And when you do that, you are kerning those letter pairs. I had a look at the font from your link and I see other instances where you need to do some kerning.
BTW don't you think the space character is just a bit too wide?
What you need to do is space all characters until you are satisfied with them. Then adjust the kerning between character pairs where it is needed. Trust your eyes.
