Perhaps the Balantine exclusive period ended when Letraset added MGB Patrician to it's product line of dry tansfer sheets/selfadhesive film at some time before 1985.

You could make it by using Futura Pro Condensed Bold Oblique or Futura Pro Condensed ExtraBold Oblique
and add the triangular top serifs to _A_ and _M_

Interesting.
It seems to me that Manfred Klein based his digital font on a thickened version of City BQ Bold.
The image compares the _S_ in City BQ Bold -- shown in red -- with Blax Slab XXL

Similar results for the other letters.

The thickened version is almost as dark as the _RED DEER REBELS_ sports logo but is not an exact match. Needs a little more thickening.

Could be made by thickening City Bold

Suggested font: City Bold

Do you have the name of the movie from which the intertitle card was taken?
Do you have any more that you could post?

For a substitute you might consider The Good Bad Man
Different letterforms but the same flavor of silent films from a century ago.

Suggested font: The Good Bad Man

Seems to be variation in letters, esp. _f_ and _r_, which would suggest hand lettering.
But it looks like the kind of lettering that someone like Nick Curtis might have made into a font in his earlier years.

Nov 29, 2015 at 14:37  [reply]  What the font?

You can make this using swash alts in Bookmania.
Also probably with Bookman Swash http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/itc/bookman/

Suggested font: Bookmania

Nov 28, 2015 at 23:16  [reply]  Rainbow shops font?

Rainbow Shops was founded in New York City in 1935.
I don't know if the logo dates from then but it has the vibe of that era.
Coronet was first released in 1937.
I concur that Coronet could be edited to produce this result, or something reasonably close.

Some of the flavor is found in Peter Wiegel's Blankenburg
According to the fontmaker, this is the semi-condensed version of Erich Meyer's Tannenberg of 1933-35

Suggested font: Blankenburg

Nov 28, 2015 at 13:47  [reply]  Font Help !!!

Fassbinder's movie used a "Jackboot Gothic" to suggest the Nazi era.
I have not found an exact match in digital versions of this genre.
Perhaps custom lettering?

Note minor differences from Cannonball, such as the _S_ with square corner terminals, like the vintage decal of _SAFARI_ rather than the curve in Cannonball.

Cannonball is a well made font, but if you prefer the original design it is available from fonts.com

For some reason this suggests a serif clipping exercise to make a logo

Balladeer Bold is a classical script that is in the ballpark.
Beef it up and it would be a good substitute.

Suggested font: Balladeer Bold
