Did you even take a few minutes to read the article? I don't know who's being a troll here...

The superiority of png to jpg -- which I agree looses data with each iteration -- is irrelevant to identification of this font.

league Spartan is too bold but lightening the weight, clipping the terminal on _r_ to make it vertical, and angling the inside portion of the short sections of the vertical strokes on _a_, _g_, _m_ and _r_ would produce a substitute for the letters in the logo..

I don't know when the trophy was made, but it's a fine example of Art Deco style.
AFAIK the lettering is not found in a single font but you can find individual letters in various fonts.
Some are free at Dafont.
