Please help : how to install a font ?

Apr 11, 2011 at 01:59

Okay so I'm really lost.
How so I use the font, in say, corel painter essentials, after I download it?

I use corel draw mostly for designing. When installing Corel Draw (Graphics Suit) a 'Bit-stream font navigator' will come with it. (you'll find this in program files > Corel Draw Graphics Suit > Bitstream Font Navigator)

After downloading the font, go to the folder you downloaded it in and right click on the (.zip) file. It will give you options of either 'Extracting Files' or 'Extract Here' you can choose 'Extract Files' although they both work...
Then "from" the font navigator you can go to Local C Drive (or wherever you saved the font) and drag it from the left box into the right box.
Thats how you add it to the programs and use it. With this you will be able to use it in Microsoft Word Document, Corel Draw and most of the time, all programs.

This dragging and dropping is most probably the troublesome way to make Windows recognize a font as available (being installed).
Save the zip to a temporarily (font) folder. Unzip to that same folder. Then right click and choose install. Then Windows knows it is available.
All other kids suggestions give unpredictable results.

@Malika Kashouga, why is it so difficult to do things properly? Don't like to be told how to do things? I know better syndrome?

@ keookiat
got a problem? who are you in the first place? or did you just get up on the wrong side of your bed this morning?! i was trying to help out and thats the way I do it. if YOU have a problem with others helping out according to THEIR ability then go get a life you probably too bored!

The way you do it is - by far - not the best way. If you want to help people that is great, but then give them the correct solution. OK?

Well, it *is* correct in my eyes. Then how do I have thousands of fonts installed?! they come flying into the program perhaps?

Apr 19, 2011 at 21:15

... thousands of fonts installed ...
1. not installed but dropped ... needs an OS restart or at least an application restart with many applications ...
2. smart, keeps your OS really up to speed ...

Apr 19, 2011 at 21:19

well,
1) it is installed, completely, no restart needed
2) i know my work as well as you don't.
thanks for your *service*.

... know my work ... but not your OS
