Hello

I am building a website for a friend and I'm using the font "Tw Cen MT". I want to include this in the site since not everybody will have it installed on their computer. I was just wondering is it a free to use font or would I need to purchase a licence to use it? I've found conflicting answers when I looked this up.

if so, it's not a free font.
if you found it for free, it's illegal

you have to pay if you use it on a paper, on a book ...on whatever you plan to use it !
and you're lucky, they also provide web licenses, for the same price.

Tw Cen MT I think came with Microsoft Office, for me...

as a webfont

I have it on my laptop too, so it must have come with it. I'm just unsure if I can use it as a font on the website or not. I looked up some legal stuff and one version says it's the font file that is copyrighted and not the font itself. So if you have it in an image it's ok (since it's not using the font file) but it's not ok if you are using the file.

I'm not sure, legal stuff confuses me sometimes and it can be hard to find a straight answer! Thanks for the bit of info too daaams

That's why I made "Geddes" ( http://www.dafont.com/geddes.font ), which currently IS free (and will be donation-ware here in about a month). I like not having to worry about licensing issues in my work...
