Can .ai or .psd files be converted to .ttf?

Mar 21, 2011 at 19:57

I am working with my typography class at Fort Lewis College and I was wondering how I go about turning an Illustrator file (.ai) or a Photoshop file (.psd) into a truetype font (.ttf). Each class member has designed their own font and has them in vector format in Adobe Illustrator and I was wondering if it would be simple to convert them into a .ttf so they my be uploaded onto dafont.com. This way, all the class members will be able to virtually use the entire class font selection through dafont.com. Is this possible? if not, what kind of program would I have to convience to college to buy in order for this to work?
