Scanner works fine on other test bar code test, such as a magazine address bar code or other examples found around the house (not printed by me)

This is very informative, will learn a lot from this and save as a resource - thank you Claudeserieux.

Still not sure I why I cannot read the bar code I created.

The problem may be with the print format or settings. Check that you have set the correct barcode density (DPI) for your printer. Some scanners may have difficulty reading if the lines are not printed clearly enough.

like here https://www.softmatic.com/barcode-code-128.html

Maybe the printer quality is affecting the readability of the barcode. Try printing at a higher quality or adjusting the contrast

What if you try to install this font? https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Libre+Barcode+128
Bars are thicker.
