Looking for a specific terminal font

Mar 22, 2012 at 19:05

Hi

I'm looking for a green on black font that resembles consolas (a shell or terminal font, more specifically), but has an aura or glow around it and scan lines running across, resembling old CRT screens. I know I've seen it before, and it's commonly used with "hacker" themes.

The included image is as close as I can find to an example, but it's not very close to what I have in mind. I'm going for a very command line/terminal-ish feel, which I know isn't very helpful :/

If need be, could this effect be created in photoshop or some similar software?

You can use Courier New or Free Monospaced if you want that type of font, like on your sample. Or pixel like style fonts, like fixedsys which comes with Windows.
Both effects (glow effect and CRT effect) can be perfectly made with PS

o.o Did you just make that? Or was there really a picture of the same text floating around that had the appearance I want?

I get lost just opening files in photoshop x.x is there a tutorial you could point me to or a list of directions?

Photoshop 100%. Quite easy to make:
1) create new black background
2) paste text, change color to green 100%
3) add outer glow to the text (same color as text)
4) add new layer with pattern overlay (must be: 2 pix height, 1 pixel width. One of the pixel must be black, other white) to simulate those horizontal lines
And thats it
Of course you can improve it (more effects, screen reflection, etc.)
