I'm making a font with FontForge and there's something I can't quite figure out on my own.

When I go to MS Excel and type a non-accented character into a field, and then type in an accented character, the accented character will be slightly lower down, as if to accommodate the extra height taken up by the accent.

After I click off the field, the whole line will adjust itself to match up with the accented character, causing the whole field's vertical alignment to be slightly below all the fields around it.

Does anyone know what this is about? I'm sure the problem is something to do with the ascent/descent settings in the OS/2 tab. Would very much appreciate some help!
