How do u type symbols?

09/09/2012 alle 06:17

I've downloaded n successfully used the fonts in my software program but here's my question, some fonts have cute symbols listed under some keys I cannot find on my keyboard, does anyone know how to type those symbols out please?

I know the characters map has them all but I cannot copy and then paste on my program as it turns up a question mark. I just want to know if there's a way to type it out from my keyboard?

Thanks.

In the character map you can see under which key the symbol is located. Just type that key and ... Bingo!

For these, simply hold the "Alt" key and then press the number corresponding to the letter. For example, for the uppercase "Ą", hold "Alt" and type 0 1 9 2, then release "Alt".

Get AllChars.

Thanks guys, but I'm using it in PhotoImpact12 and it doesn't seem to work holding down the "Alt".. am I missing something?

Well, you should simply hold the "Alt" key, and then type "0", then "1", then "9", then "2", and then release the "Alt" key. When you release the "Alt" key, the letter "Ą" should appear.

You could also copy/paste letters directly from here, if you're patient

Tried it, doesn't work in my photoimpact, all I hear is the program *ding*-ing (like I've typed something invalid kinda sound) all the time I type the numbers while holding down the alt key ... and then copy and paste doesn't work either coz it ends up as a question mark in my program ... Anyone uses photoimpact that can help me out here?

What about copying the text from the notepad and pasting it in photoimpact ? Same result ?

@UglyCupcake
Your keyboard setting is probably English (United States). If so you can not type accented letters like é, ą, Ü, Ń etcetera directly from the keyboard by typing the accent followed by the desired accented letter as the English (United States) keyboard setting does not have deadkeys.
If this is the case, goto Control Pannel > Regional Settings > Keyboards and Languages and click Change keyboard.
On the General tab add the United States (international) keyboard. Then select your language in combination with the United States (international) keyboard and click Apply and OK.
If you don't want to do that then install AllChars (Version 4) and restart your computer. Then you have the same - no, even more - functionality as with the United States (international) keyboard, except that you need to type the control key before you type the accent and the letter. If the funny thingies you want are sitting under an accented letter key (which is most times the case) they will show up .

@daaams, yes it's same result, turns out to be all question marks..

@koeiekat, thanks for the tip but Ive tried to add the language keyboard in and installed AllChars ver4 still can't get to type this spanish letter →【ń】← (it's all I want to type >.< ) .. I checked the keys to type it is 【~N】 after pressing once on the ctrl key and all I get is 【aN】 ... am I still doing something wrong?

With AllChars installed the sequence is type the [Ctrl] key and release, type the [Shift] key and the [~] key and release then type the [Shift] key and the [N] key and release. The result is the capital enya: Ń.

Sry, was this in English (United States) keyboard mode or do I have to switch to spanish keyboard mode?

10/09/2012 alle 10:11

With AllChars installed it doesn't matter which keyboard layout you use as long as it is Latin and has a separate ~ key.
