use permission for logger font

Aug 01, 2023 at 18:32

Greetings, A friend is compiling a book of poems written when she and her husband composed and performed folk songs about Wisconsin. A friend of hers suggested using the logger font by David Rakowski on the cover of the book. (Love, Logging and Laughter) How can I reach Mr. Rakowski to ask for a limited use of those words in his logger font on a book cover? My friend will be charging for copies to help cover production costs, so I suppose it could be a limited commercial use.

Music professor at Brandeis, apparently. He might not be very interested in inquiries about
license fees for thirty-year-old freeware fonts, but knock yourself out

In the meantime I'd suggest considering other typefaces.

@Chuck Rang: Mention on the title page that the font on the cover is Logger by David Rakowski.

It's very possible that he did not design the font, he may have just made a digital version of a Public Domain alphabet design, from a printed source.

Professor Rakowski emailed me today to acknowledge his ownership of the font and gave my friend free use for her book. Thanks for taking the time to help.
