Need to add glyphs to a custom font

May 22, 2019 at 20:40

Hello, I am hoping that someone here can point me in the right direction. I took over a WordPress site, www.signxing.com. On the customize pages such as https://www.signxing.com/product/dog/ there is a very clever method of switching the images as you use the drop down called "Image" that lets you see the image of the dog that will go on the sign. It uses a custom made font and the images are glyphs of the font. I have been given close to 100 new images of dogs to add to the list for customers to choose from.

I have been working at this for days to figure out how to do this. I have downloaded font forge and am able to import the font and I have learned how to create a new SVG image and create a glyph. I have generated the new font with the new glyph. When I view it with my font viewer, I see the new glyph. I load the font back to the site, add the line to the CSS that controls that section, added the line to the Gravity form, and go look at the site and the new dog, 'Afghan2', does not show up. I can not figure out what I am doing wrong.

I know now that I am not doing something correctly with the font. I have tried installing the font and testing it in a regular post and the original glyphs work but the new ones do not. I have tried creating a new font with just 2 glyphs and testing that and have the same result. The built in font viewer can display the glyphs, but for some reason they are not working on the website.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. I am not sure I understand how color fonts relates to my question. The dog glyphs are all black.
