Is it something customized with a special shadow / border? Know of anything similar please?

It looks like URW's version of Baskerville Medium Italic, and someone "connected" them like a script and the used the URW font maker to put in that extreme drop shadow. I would have to say, this was most likely created back in the early 1990s.

PS - I no longer have my URW disks, but it wouldn't surprise me if this had already been made by them.
