Number of characters

Apr 19, 2010 at 15:57

Hi,
I have just joined this site and am amazed at how helpful everyone seems to be so I thought I'd ask - what would be a general guideline for how many characters I should include in a new font. I have done all of the standard keyboard characters, but am wondering about the ligatures and whatnot?
Thanks,
Sethan

hi,

it would be a pleasure if you thought about adding accent characters, like é, è, à, ô,...
mots of the free fonts don't support this kind of characters, it's really boring.
So if you want your font to be used, think about it.

Not really difficult to do, but verrrrry useful.
When downloading on dafont, i always use the filter "only show fonts with accents", as most european people do.

What really annoys me is that some fonts have a good selection of accented characters, but lacks the å and Å and thus are useless to me.

That, Staffan, is because most people that make a font have no clue about other languages besides their own. An å or š is something beyond their comprehension ... thus ...
