Font won't work...keeps opening with Microsoft Word

Jan 16, 2012 at 07:39

When I download a font, it goes into my downloads folder. When I double click to open the folder, my computer opens the folder with Word and I get the error message "The file grinched cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents". What do I do?? I really need help asap because I would like to use the font for my son's 1st birthday party. Thanks!

You must first unzip the downloaded file containing the .ttf font file en then install the font before you can use it. See 'Help' above.

When I double click on the place where it is saved on my hard drive, it opens in word and gives me the error message. There is no option to unzip.

What program should I open the file with?

If you double-click on something, and it opens in Microsoft Word, then it's not a font file. Take the time to unzip the file you have downloaded here, and then right click on the .ttf or .otf file and choose "Install".

To inzip a file, you must use a zip software like winzip, 7zip, powerarchiver, etc.
