Looking for font from this LA sign, put up in the 70s

Mar 19, 2017 at 19:15

This sign is from an old strip club in LA -- put up in the 70s. The owner likely wouldn't have made a custom font for it, so it is believed it must have been an existing font that the sign-maker had on hand. It looks similar to DeVinne, but is more condensed, and the R is unusual... Any ideas? THANKS!

Or just very old and never made it to digital...

Meanwhile, I found this - it's not the font - but has the same feelings...if you squash it.

Thank you! I agree-- it has the similarities. It seems that it is condensed / squashed, but maybe they put several fonts together to make this... I wonder about the R -- that is really different....

It's not the R - but again, a substitute?

Or take good old Romana - and pinch it's R.

NOT THE FONT
