Im sorry if this is a dumb question. But Id rather ask and look dumb then be silent and stay dumb.

Are there any copy rights to these fonts. Say, if I wanted to use a font in any design would I have to get the rights or would I be liable for suit in any way?

The best thing to do is to ask the author. Every author might have a different answer to your question.

Many time, the copyright of the font is explain in a file (txt ou doc) include in the zip of the font.
And DaFont specifie the type of each font : Public domain, 100% free, free for personal use, etc.
