Font on old map / Police sur carte ancienne
It looks like Futura but it isn't..
J'aimerai identifier cette famille que je trouve superbe.. Ca ressemble à Futura. La carte date de 1940. Merci !

Would love to know this!
Gingery projection patented in 1944.
At least four different letter designs in this information panel.
Could perhaps be lithography rather than type as such.
Similar fonts for the smaller size letters include Intertype Vogue, not digitized.

thanks !
Text either side of the globe based on Kabel Medium. 'W' of the digital version is different.

Petite remarque , il y a 3 fontes différentes.
U.S. CENTRIC
Woodtype

Edited:
Looks like the source of the _U.S. CENTRIC..._ line.
Trivial differences such as the notch where the leg on _R_ meets the vertical stroke perhaps a result of redrawing the letters for a map plate.
Little or no optical correction to narrow the thickness of the horizontal strokes compared to the vertical ones. A trait of 19th century grotesque designs that is shared by Futura
I wonder if anyone done a digital version of this particular woodtype.

A quick rendition as a font. Hoping to find some matching numbers.

Listed as Mode Bold and Mode Condensed in the American Wood Type Mfg Co's Catalog No 36 (1936) here:
http://www.woodtyperesearch.com/catalog-no-36/ Great to have a name, some numbers and the info that there was a lowercase.
A quick search reveals that Mode is also presented, in Medium, Condensed, Bold, and Extra Bold Condensed, at pages 22–24 of the AWT 1958–59 Catalog from American Wood Type Mfg. Co. -- which I have not seen.
Mode is a fascinating hybrid of the vibes of 19th century grotesque and Futura.

Thanks a lot for all these informations. So do you think it would be interesting to digitize them ?
Did you noticed the "J"in PROJECTION ? Beautiful.
Kabel is really similar to the little font yes !
Si tu cherches similaire: Tempo
Helpful. Close _C_ etc.
Are there ny suggestions for the lower case, as shown in the Mode Cond. word _Grandeur_ at

How come I smell Futura?
Perhaps because Mode was a product by American Wood Type Mfg. Co. designed to compete with Futura.
I asked for suggestions because the some of letters _randeur_ are rather different than Futura.
Don
yes
Sorry, I formulated it the wrong way. I should have said why is it stinks like Futura. Or rather, why is it that americans don't give a shit about others intellectual property but oh, oh oh, when it affects their business. Remember how Bitstream started?
At the risk of launching an endless discussion I'll say my 2 cents worth.
I find that we are all served poorly when the US corporate giants use IP as a way of browbeating the world. T, Roosevelt said The US should carry big stick. Those of us on the receiving end are not so happy.
The Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement -- that may be announced today -- or further postponed, includes oppressive IP obligations that must be met by other countries. From the owners of Micky Mouse to the pharmaceutical cartel that denies access to generic drugs until many years have passed. Indeed, it stinks
