Futura with looser kerning for web?

Oct 30, 2014 at 17:52

I'm making a new site and I wanted my font to be Futura. I loaded Futura but I can't edit the kerning/tracking and it is automatically putting the letters touching each other. I can't seem to find a fix for it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? Or a font similar in style to Futura but with looser kerning so that it looks decent?

Thanks! I'm getting desperate and frustrated!! :\

Which Futura from which foundry and which version? And where did you get the webfont from? Because, when it behaves like that you should complain at the foundry where you bought the license.

For no modification of the font, try this

<style type="text/css">
.futura {font-family:Futura;letter-spacing:50px}
</style>

use the class on whatever you wanted in Futura with a wider letter spacing, like this

<span class="futura">FUTURA</span>

Change the value of letter spacing to what your prefer.

Your problem might have been caused by the settings used when you converted the desktop font to a webfont. Convert the font again and tell the site to retain the font's kerning, and see how it goes. You would not likely encounter that if you have a legal copy of the Futura webfont.
