Caslon font? But even the heaviest weight on this font doesn't fit like the logo.

Have you looked at the R? At the C? Like I have already said, I don't cancel an ID just for the fun of it.

The Caslon has been digitized by many and they are all just a tiny little bit different. For this case have a look at Softmakers Horsham. Xbold or Heavy.

Exactly, different enough so there could be the good answer somewhere in the font jungle. It's just that this one isn't the font on the sample.

Xbold is in fact a better match than the Heavy but needs to be expanded some 111%. But even then not the perfect match. Which makes me happy as it would be awful to have a perfect match with a Softmaker thing.

Personally I think that it would be a mere miracle if a perfect match for this sample could ever be found. Too many pimping has been done to this sample image imho.
