I have not used dafont before, and I am having a hard time figuring it out. I download the converter - but then am clueless how to find the font.

Any suggestions for a newbie?

Read the FAQ section: http://www.dafont.com/faq.php, to answer most of your questions. I don't know what you mean by "the converter" - were you referring to a .zip file extractor, or something else?
