Your software is probably changing it automatically from ' to ’ (the last one being the proper one to use typographically).

Other software don't change it. Like in this message where I had to enter the second one manually by typing ALT+0146...

it looks close to arial - but not exact?

Any idea?

I also think it's Arial (actually Arial Narrow Bold).

What I was explaining is that some software (MS Word, InDesign, etc...) will automatically replace the [ ' ] sign for a [ ’ ] sign. The second one being the proper apostrophe to put in a text. You won't see the first used as an apostrophe in a book, for example.

That being said, if you want to type this exact apostrophe, you need to turn off the feature in the software or you may try copying and pasting [ hooley's M ] from here. Another solution is to enter it by using Alt+0146 (you press and hold ATL and you enter 0,1,4,6 on the numeric keybord then releasing ATL).

Thanks Frank!
Your right- it was just the ctrl key (I'm on a Mac) in combination to the apostrophe.
