Not new. These softwares are from Fontlab. You have to create a font with bitfonter (
http://www.fontlab.com/font-editor/bitfonter/) and save it as a photofont file (.phf) then you need a photofont plugin to make it work. The plugin is free for photoshop, indesign and xpress :

edit : oh, and no CS5 and 6 support for the plugin... too bad

You don't have to donate to download a font. The donation is set to reward authors and is totally optional.
To download the font, click on the big grey button stating "download" on the right of the font's illustration.
