Sonata has been copied by many now extinct font sellers like the Composer by Weatherly Systems Inc (WSI), the Concerto and SaxNViolinsSSK by Southern Software Inc (SSI), Konzertia DB by Data Becker, Notes by Bay Animation and the Violine by Brendel Informatik.

In 1992, 93 and 94 Steinberg bundled a version named Cubase with its soundcards and composing software. Also from 1992 Musicator a/s bundled it with their composing software as Musicator. PGMusic Inc bundled it as PGMusic F.

Christian Texier named his version Sonora.

There are also versions around that have no information about the maker whatsoever like for example the Capella, the Mozart, the Musical Symbols and the Strauf.

Not all have the same keyboard layout and not all have the same number of symbols.
