I created this image using LT Oksana, adding shadow in Powerpoint, and then using the blur tool in Photoshop. The only problem is that it's less versatile than a regular font. Is there any way to make this blurred version into a font option like the italics or bold versions?

Yes and no. PS adds blur effect to the image/pixels, the font is a vector shape that can use only one color. There are technics to simulate that though. Here you have an example: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/bomparte/glow-gothic/
Here you have a font with shadow effect and inline version: http://www.dafont.com/titania.font . Again, shadow is 100% black and no transparencies can be used.

thank you for explaining that. I see what you mean. I really like the exact effect- trying to make a lecture in powerpoint look exactly like The Artist movie, so I guess I'll write all the text in the powerpoint presentation and then convert them all to jpg slides, unless you have a different suggestion.
