For CNC work, a normal TTF like Learning Curve will usually need some conversion before it becomes a usable single-line path. I’d look for a font-to-single-line tool or convert the glyphs to paths first, then clean up the centerline before sending it to the CNC.
Same here 😂 I think the regulars just recognize the small details in letter shapes after seeing thousands of fonts. I’m still at the stage where everything looks “close enough.”
That distinction between regular fonts and CNC-ready geometry is useful. TTF and OTF fonts are made for text rendering, so they usually need to be converted to suitable paths before a CNC machine can use them for cutting.
I was curious about this too. It looks like the site itself was not meant to disappear completely—Luc said the updates stopped permanently, while the existing pages would likely remain online. The site is still accessible today, which is great since it has such a huge amount of font information.
Glad to hear Luc is doing well and that you finally got a response. Sounds like that March email really did disappear into the ether. Good luck with your project!
