Alternate Gothic No. 1, developed for ATF (American Typefounders) by Morris Fuller Benton in 1903, is very similar to 6 of the 8 letters in MERCEDES, but is a little too bold and is slightly wider. The _M_ vertex is on the baseline instead of at mid height. The _S_ has about the same diagonal, but the terminals extend further.

The word Cutter was made by horizontally expanding Phoenix Script FLF, altering the _t_ cross stroke to make _tt_ and some minor tweeks such as sharpening the tip of the upper terminal of _C_.

Phoenix Script FLF was designed by Richare Ware in 1990-92 and was published by Casady & Greene.

If the letters are a boat emblem, they are very unlikely to be a font.

Semi bold.
One of the few fonts with top serifs on _T_ like the image.
Some letters, such as _S_ have the same width, others such as _W_ and _E_ are too wide.
Serifs are pure slab, unlike image.

Perhaps custom for the manga.
Gyparody Heavy is similar, if width expanded.

Clip the little spur on the rhs tips of _E_, run a parallel line around the regular weight, and the result looks close to your image.

IFC Rail Road has terminals as close as the others and is free here at Dafont.

I did not spot any really close fonts.
Mostra Nuova Black and Heavy have similar proportions, but are too regular to work as close substitutes.

Almond script -- suggested by Heron2001 -- could well be the inspiration for these letters.
Can't say if they were drawn freehand or made by smoothing Almond Script and editing the contours.
