I figure that the security settings for the PDF are set as not edible. If that is so it has little to do with the font used, which may very well not have been embedded, but simply with the fact that you may not edit the PDF.
To make it possible you may have to restore the whole PDF. Thank god for Control C and V
For images use the camera of Acrobat and copy the images to somewhere where you can use them again for the to be restored PDF.
May take some time, true, but then at least you can do what you want.
