Another one with many names
MazamaPlain, based on the Patrician, by James M. Harris, 1990. Followed in 1991 by Castcraft (RIP) as OPTIProtea. And in 1994 Brendel Informatik and Novel came with Aegina and Professor.

Thank you. That helps big time.

Koeiekat - MGB Patrician was designed by Don Munson back in the early 1980s - and was an exclusive typositor font at Haber's typeshop in New York City. Don Munson was the Art Director of Ballantine Books back then - and designed it for a series - I forgot which author - but I do remember it was the start of white plastic lettering on paperback books....

Why I had to do a double take - was at that time James R. Harris (yes, my dear departed friend) was the Art Director of Trade Books at Ballantine - and well, I'll spare you the words... lol

Hi Jackie, I was referring to the digital format of the type.
@ Claude, No Sherlock Holmes involved. Jackie knows these things by heart

Not by heart - I knew the culprits... lol

Perhaps the Balantine exclusive period ended when Letraset added MGB Patrician to it's product line of dry tansfer sheets/selfadhesive film at some time before 1985.

Haber\ kept it exclusive for typositor. Don did a great job on alternative letters. He created so many wonderful curvy S glyphs.

When in a bullpen -- easier to order headline type and have the company pay for it!

Are the alternative letters -- such as the curvy _S_ glyphs -- included in any of the digital fonts?

OptiProtea has the elongated S (using this character š) and several of the alternatives like an X and F.

Mazam (yes Kat that one... lol) has a few alternates - but the only other S I see is a double S when you type Ę
