You can get a very similar curved sides and spiky corners effect by using Portcullion. Note that THIS IS NOT THE FONT.
Pay version under the name Black Rose from Font Mesa.

Police suggérée : Portcullion

The _S_ looks like it's modelled on the _S_ in Wilhelm Klingspor Gotisch. A free version is available here at Dafont, under the name Killigrew

Police suggérée : Killigrew

Custom lettered for the company.
Compare the following three versions with your image:

Nothing in common except the general style.
So not a font.

31/05/2017 à 19:12  [réponse]  name font?

OVERLAND
The _O_ and _D_ look like Superclarendon with a weight somewhere between bold and black.
Top part of leg on _R_ is closer to the stem than in Superclarendon. Similar to Monotype Clarendon.
The medial spurs and star look like custom addtions to Superclarendon and/oranother Clarendon.
COUNTRY BAR & GRILL
A Light weight Clarendon

Police suggérée : Superclarendon

Another font in the ballpark, but not as close, is Nimbus Sans Cond Bold, BUT THIS IS NOT THE FONT.
Differences include the tiny serif that kicks out at the bottom of the leg of _R_.
Nimbus is derived from Helvetica. Also see Swiss 721.

The letters are in a style known as Grotesque and look like they were printed from ultra large woodtype blocks created by a wood type producer such as William Page or Hamilton Woodtype. Some of these fonts are still available to print posters at museums such as
Hamilton Woodtype Museum in the U.S.
https://www.facebook.com/hamiltonwoodtype/
and others in the U.K. and elsewhere.

AFAIK no exact digital match to these letters.
The closest overall is perhaps Newhouse DT SuperCondensed Bold, BUT THIS IS NOT THE FONT.
Differences include the tiny serif that kicks out at the bottom of the leg of _R_.

29/05/2017 à 16:36  [réponse]  What Movies Poster Font is ?

Presumably this would have been custom for the New Line studio in 2007 -- when the Golden Compass was released.
AFAIK there is no retail font that has this exact design for the letters and fits them into this extreme height to width ratio.
However, a similar extreme H to W ratio is found in Tall Skinny Condensed -- which is NOT AN EXACT MATCH to the letter design, which is more rounded for letters such as _S_ and _O_.

Police suggérée : Tall Skinny Condensed

For a free alternative that should be trouble free, and optimized for onscreen use, there is a Google Web Font called Lato -- NOT AN EXACT MATCH.

Interesting find, but not a 100% match.
At this scale you have to look very closely to spot the distinguishing features of the letters.
The _R_ has a leg that seems to kick out further than M+ 2p -- but but not quite as far as the leg of _R_ in Gill Sans Light.
The _S_ has a straighter diagonal than either M+ 2p or Gill Sans Light.
The _G_ has a central bar that is shorter than M+ 2p

Overall, the latin subset of M+ 2p looks like a variation of Gill Sans.

M+ 2p is an East Asian font with thousands of glyphs, and might be awkward to work with.
I was able to open it with FontForge -- it crashed FontLab -- and found that the letters are well made. They would work well for creating videos with this style.

But it might be worth checking for others that are similar to Gill Sans. Identifont has some interesting suggestions for similar fonts

There is a digital version of Library Text, digitized by Dan X. Solo, included in the CD packaged a Dover Alphabet Book. But no legitimate download. For legitimate use you have to buy the Book/CD.
