Ultra Modern, designed by Douglas C. McMurtrie in 1928 and in use as a Ludlow type for many years.
Image shows squeezing and pulling of the letters.

Beer indeed
No longer drink it but still love the lettering art on the labels

Custom lettering for a beer company.
Several versions.
High resolution image of a more polished one than shown in your image.

For _JAMES DEAN REBEL etc." a Fjalla One has similar letter shapes including the narrow _J_ with the upkick tip, but without the variations in stroke length, bouncy effect etc. A Google Web Font.

Perhaps hand-lettered.
The style of _EAST OF EDEN_ is sometimes called sho-card speed script. Filmotype Dancer is in this style and is close to the lettering used in the movie poster.

Good find.
There is a note that says that Nick Curtis based Great Lakes on a Poster _Cruise Canadian Pacific on the Great Lakes_, circa 1935.
Edited final sentence:
I missed that this was not the actual old hand-lettered movie title, and that it is actually a recreation using Great Lakes NF, compressed to about 80% for _BARTHELMES_ and about 66% for _HEROES FOR SALE_.

Some similarity to the heavier weights of ARB Neon, based on lettering from June 1937

Police suggérée : ARB-66 Neon JUN-37

13/11/2015 à 17:32  [réponse]  Heros For Sale Font

Looks like lettering from the 1930s or 1940s.
There are fonts that have the right weight and width for _HEROES FOR SALE_, such as Golden Gate Gothic, but have different letter shapes.
The letter shapes and width of YWFT Jute Bold are a fair match, but it is too light in weight.

Police suggérée : Jute Bold

12/11/2015 à 01:24  [réponse]  Or similar?!

Perhaps this did not make the transition to digital.
Latino Elongated would work as a fair substitute.
For a match that would not be noticed except by the eagle-eyed, edit by splaying the legs on _M_, adding a serif to the top of _A_, and applying a shadow effect.

@Heron2001
So what's to LOL about?
The link in your post is to Eagle Fonts which is not much help to the questioner in finding where to get the font, or for that matter, that the reference was to Harold Lohner's version of the font
That's the only reason why I posted the link to Harold's Fonts.
