I believe this is something close to Ehrhardt but with softer contrast and of course the lc "a" is far rounder and the italic is wider.

I like the spark of it on the page. Any ideas?

Quizás sea una versión diferente de Garamond (https://www.myfonts.com/search/Garamond ). Buscando el pdf del libro "Instrucciones para vivir en México" aparece que contiene una Garamond, aunque no tiene por qué ser este artículo, porque el pdf no está en esta tipografía.

Ya le di su repasada a las Garmond, se parece un poco a Granjon y algo tiene de similar con Garamond ITC pero no, lo que más lo distingue es el contraste.
