Spacing and Kerning problems

21/09/2018 à 11:40

As a beginner i failed my second attempt to upload a font because of Spacing and Kerning problems. I tried to do the kerning according to my ownn criteria but obviously it did not work. I am a lot confused but I do not want to give up. I have read carefully this "Spacing or kerning problem http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerning";. There i discovered a table of kerning pairs for Minion Pro Font. But i think ther are other sismilar tables for other type of fonts to choose the one that comes closest to the font to be kerned and learn the best way to work.
Every help is welcome! Thanks in advance!

If you want to learn more about spacing and kerning, you could start here: http://designwithfontforge.com/en-US/Spacing_Metrics_and_Kerning.html

You can't just pick the kerning values from another font and apply them to yours.

Also, don't forget to add a space glyph, one of your submission didn't have one.

FontCreator is a commercial font editor that can automatically space and kern your font in a matter of minutes. These features are available in the professional edition:

If you don't want to spend weeks manually adjusting spacing and kerning, then FontCreator is the way to go.
