i recently got a new PC with windows 8 and am not techy enough to understand what settings and or programs need to be changed or downloaded in order for me to be able to download fonts. when i click on the download button, an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC window automatically opens and reads "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" could not open 'stackyard.zip' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasnt correctly downloaded)." does anyone have suggestions on what i need to do in order to get these zip files to download? i never had any problems with my previous laptop.
First of all get yourself
7zip.
You have associated zip files with Acrobat reader. Wrong. At the zip download choose for save instead of open. When saved right click the file and select open with and then browse fir 7zip file manager. Check the always box. Problem solved.
I don't have the two confused, but my computer seems to. When I'm on the website and click the "Download" button on the right side of the screen an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC window automatically opens and gives me that message I wrote above. I never have the option to save because it will not download.
thanks so much!!! got it working.

Although Microsoft through all the upgrades from Windows 3 has always treated their customers as dummies up to the level of absolute idiots that have to be shielded from any knowledge and understanding of the operating system it is extremely worthwhile to defeat Microsoft and learn to understand what Microsoft is hiding from you.
It is very well worth the trouble and is something like understanding why not to us a saw to get a nail into the wood but a hammer.
Not a techy? there is nothing techy about it (techy is spelled as techie).
