Crafters vs Viruses

Aug 29, 2014 at 17:37

Is it possible to get a virus from dafont.com?

I belong to several Facebook groups for crafters and most of us use dafont.com on a daily basis.

Recently there have been some posts from people who claim to have acquired viruses from dafont.com. My understanding was that .ttf and .otf files can’t contain viruses?

I’m skeptical of these claims as I have used dafont.com for years and have never had a problem.

Thank you!

Fonts are 'read only' files. Virii are executable files. It may be technically possible to receive a virus from a DaFont download, but only if the virus is in a MicroSoft Word document that contains a virulent macro.

Wear a condom while downloading, avoid kissing koeiekat when his nose is red and running, and you'll be fine.

Thank you and, from what I've seen so far, koeiekat needs to be avoided whether his nose is red and running or not.
