license plate font issue

Sep 06, 2013 at 17:23

I'm trying to use the license plate font. However any letter diagnal such as the A, looks pixelated on the edges, or crooked. Its not a smooth line like the rest, why is that? Is there something I need to do it, like flatten object, which I tried and that did nothing.

Yes that's what it's called license plate font. Can anyone answer this for me as to why the diagonal letter edges look terrible and pixelated?

Pixelated How can it be pixelated with only two nodes on a diagonal line

Sep 06, 2013 at 22:17

Meaning mean the A or V goes up the edges are a crooked line all the way up and down. The vertical lines are fine its the horizontal lines

Can not be

By the way, try to write the name of the font you seem to be talking about correctly ...

No it looks just like that but with jagged edges. That's why I'm wondering if I should be doing something to it

You should provide a link/ links to the specific font(s) you're talking about. If you're seeing these jagged edges and pixelation when used on a telephone, the chances are good that there are no problems with the font itself. If you have these problems when you try to use the font on a computer, You may need to change your font smoothing settings in your System preferences. It's also possible that the font(s) you're talking about was/were poorly designed by amateurs, and the edges are rough because there are too many nodes on the contours, (ie: instead of one long, smooth line, there are a series of shorter lines, with roughly the same slope). Such a font may look OK at a few point sizes, but it will deteriorate, if the image is enlarged, or made smaller.

Without knowing exactly what font(s) you're talking about, there's no way to offer you specific help. You really should have included that information, and links to the fonts, in your first post.

Here is the link to the one I actually used also

http://www.fontspace.com/category/license%20plate

You can see this one the A is jagged.

Seems they are all like this.

The image 3 up is that very font. Not very well made, true, but it can not cause pixelation. The problem is not the font but you.

Sep 07, 2013 at 20:36

Pixelation might be Wrong word. It's us jagged on the sides not a straight clear line. It is certainly not me. All I'm am doing is typing A for god sakes

Sep 07, 2013 at 20:49

I said the problem is not the font but you.

It's also not especially well made. Notice how the height of flat topped glyphs is inconsistent, as is the base line, and the width of vertical strokes. It's a free font, and probably as good as the author could do, when he made it.

Thanks to those giving actual input. I am not making the font rather trying to just use it. Does anyone k ow where I can find the font with the jagged edges on some of those letters

Two words of advice.
One: Don't use this
Two: Try to learn to understand the basics of your operating system(s).
