Yeah I've seen on the creator's website that there are OTF versions of the fonts Thanks for the reply!

Wow, it seems that you are right! I can't believe that a $40 book used a free font. I can't believe either that you fond it so quick! Thank you!

It seems, according to this screenshot (the Swash capitals) that they used "Im Fell Dw", but doesn't it seem a little bit too bold compared to the font used in the book, or does it seem okay to you?

On the left, Im Fell Dw, on the right, the book: http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/15/37/26/36/garamo13.jpg Here it seems to match.
But here, there is a ligature "fi": http://i35.servimg.com/u/f35/15/37/26/36/garamo15.jpg I guess that even though it is a ttf font, they found a way to add ligatures.

Hello,

2 fonts are visible on this scan, 1 serif, and 1 sans-serif.

I first thought about Charter for the serif font, the the "fi" ligature doesn't match.

Here is another picture of the book, assuming it's the same font: http://i.imgur.com/EannN3B.jpg

Thank you.

Hello,

I think that the font of the main text is probably "Monotype Baskerville", but i'm not quite sure, especially because of the italic "T". Also, I have no idea about the font of the title "The Color Purple".

Thank you.

Thank you for the help.

Problem solved.

Thanks for the help.

Thank you. I'm assuming there is no difference between the Sabon of Linotype & the one of Adobe, at least for the STD versions?

03/02/2015 a las 10:19  [respuesta]  Basic serif font

I think i've made mistake. When you said "Sabon", I actually compared with " Sabon next". Now that I've checked "Sabon", I can't really see the differences between C. Garamond and Sabon. You said about the "M" but I can't really see it: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/bitstream/classical-garamond/alternate_cuts.html

I've found how to do BUT that deletes a lot of existing glyph, is someone knows how to avoid this problem.

1. Open the font in "FontCreator"
2. Find the ligatures "fi" & "fl"
3. Right clic on "fi", "Glyph Properties"
4. Replace what's in "Codepoints" by "$FB01"
5. Right clic on "fl", "Glyph Properties"
6. Replace what's in "Codepoints" by "$FB02"
7. Export in .otf version

Is there any way I could fix that using a software to modify the font?

02/02/2015 a las 22:06  [post initial]  Ligatures don't work

Hello,

http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/bitstream/classical-garamond/

I got this font, but the ligatures "fl" & "fi" don't work, even if they are integrated to the font.

You can try it with the preview there, it's the first font, by Bitstream : http://www.myfonts.com/search/classical+garamond/fonts/#item_2

When you type "fi" & "fl" in the preview, and you select to display the ligatures in the options, they don't work.

Thanks

Here is an example of the italics, sorry if it's not very clear: http://i.imgur.com/isHMK0S.jpg

@koeiekat Thank you for your reply.

The "f" italic is like the Classic Garamond one (the bottom of the letter is cut), sorry it does not appear on the picture.
I'm assuming that the Classical Garamond is confirmed?

02/02/2015 a las 17:44  [respuesta]  Basic serif font

I've been comparing for like 10min the different letters of the book with the Classical Garamond, and that's exactly this one. Thank you!

I think it's "Bembo", need confirmation.
Thank you for the help.

Merci

29/01/2015 a las 19:08  [respuesta]  Basic Serif Font (folio classique)

Merci
