The letter maker started with Fette Gotisch, eliminated non-essential hairlines and did a lot of cutting and pasting

Don't know if if these cut up letters were made into a font

Perhaps custom lettering rather than a font.
Some similarities to Aero -- NOT THE FONT

28/08/2016 a las 21:29  [respuesta]  What font is this?

This logo is NOT A FONT
It may have begun with letters from a font but, if so, there was a lot of distortion and customization.
Could have started with something like Meta Serif Pro ExtraBold, but I am far from certain that this is the source font.
Shown here with width compressed to 80%

Amador by Jim Parkinson is NOT THE FONT but would work for an approximation

EDITED:
Newspaper nameplates for major newspapers are usually custom logo designs.
Looks like an updated version of the nameplate.
Sometimes when the nameplate is updated the designer also creates a proprietary font to match the nameplate, as was done when Jim Parkinson -- prolific producer of newspaper nameplates -- also created a font for the Dallas Morning News as part of the update.

If the SMH uses headings with lettering to match their nameplate, then they have a font.

Samsung uses Samsung Sharp Sans, a custom version of Sharp Sans No. 1.
Samsung Sharp Sans is not offered to the public.

AFAIK this logo, which appears as compass patch that buttons onto the upper sleeve of the left arm of apparel from Carlo Rivetti's Sportswear Company, is not a font.

EDITED:
Closest font to the letters in the logo is perhaps Amsi Pro Narrow Bold -- NOT THE FONT -- which has a similar relaxed _S_ and the rounded tips.

AFAIK no perfect match to this logo.
But a close substitute can easily be made from Aero
The following image shows Aero sloped 12 degres left, to make it vertical, and below it the results of a few minutes work shifting the contours.

Some additional tinkering can improve the match

Assuming this is a photo of an actual sign from the late 1940s, I believe these are sign-maker's letters that show the influence of several lettering styles, including:
* Something like Bodoni Poster Compressed (1929)
http://myfonts.us/td-65mwmC
* The wedge shapes of fonts like Albertus (1938)
http://myfonts.us/td-2K3sXd
* Latin Condensed (1879) Digital as Birch

@Heron2001: Agree with the call of Hess Neobold. Good find for the Barco image.

----

IIRC the caps were by Sol Hess for Linotype circa 1934

The image is the logo for a new anime series -- a crime drama set during the prohibition, which follows the protagonist Avilio seeking revenge for the death of his family.

Looks like the logo maker found the lower case, or made some letters from a "gas pipe" font.

Does anyone have a specimen of a lower case for Hess Neobold?
