I could have sworn this was Helvetica Black, but it's not. That apostrophe threw me off. I know this is super easy but I'm stumped.

Umm Arial?

The "M" is not in the Arial family. Neither is the apostrophe. Thanks for the response, though.

I'm not looking for the golden arches "M," but the McDonald's "M".

From what i can tell its definitely Helvetica but the apostrophe is customised. There's a few blog posts written about this.

Helvetica Neue Black - http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/adobe/helvetica-neue/helveticaneue-black/

or ore closely to :

Helvetica Neue Exp Heavy http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/adobe/helvetica-neue/exp-heavy/

It's not Helvetica. The "M" here is broader at the base and more narrow at the top. Helvetica "M"s are the same width at the top and the base. Plus the "a"s in Helvetica are definitely different than the one in the jpeg above. Thanks for trying, everybody.

"M" possibily is "Futura Extra Bold" (http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/adobe/futura/)...

I'm looking for the same font, and maybe "helvetica bold" could be the likest, the "M" is made with and inverted "W" or at least is very close.

@drblog Totally agree with the vertically flipped W idea. It's definitely a version of Helvetica/Neue Haas Grotesk/Helvetica Neue/etc...

Helvetica has been available since 1957. This logo was introduced in 1968. Arial didn't reach the scene until 1982 and it's only similar due to being based on Helvetica's design principles.

Should also keep in mind that graphic designers frequently make minor adjustments/customizations for all sorts of aesthetic reasons and that finding a font that matches all these inconsistencies is like finding a needle in a haystack. It's far more logical and timely to conclude that Helvetica Bold/Black was modified.

jakmahe is right it is "McLawsuit" but the McDonald's wordmark, I'm not too sure.

The OP never asked for the arches, did he/she? Next time when you feel like digging, ever thought of going to the garden instead of the cemetery?

Kat - I LOVE that line - may I steal it from you?

Is it an old family expression?

No need for stealing Take it

I may be very late, but i figured it out. Here are the list of modifications to helvetica black:
1. M is inverted W.
2.The apostrophe is independently made. Just make a polygon with top width same as d's handle and the bottom width it's half.
3. L and D are shortened.
