Full color bitmap fonts? photofont?
I've been doing some googling and have come across a way to do full color fonts. they're mainly geared towards on screen use.
I've found a couple programs that will make them but they are really expensive. does anyone know anything more about this technology?
Wait...so you can create fonts in a certain color?
It's finally possible?!
Was that directed at Kirksucks or me?

Certain color yes, black indeed...
Ah, yes. LOL.
But the way kirksucks phrased it, it sounded like the color barrier was broken...
what the hell am I looking at then?

Has anyone heard of this, and what is it? that's the whole point of this post. its not a .ttf vector font. but from what it says it can be used in photoshop.
That is just random pictures you can use as a font - what I invisioned was something like, say, Fontcreator of Fontlab, where you could create fonts and their outlines in something other than black.
Kirk still ehh ...
vector is never going to be in full color. my question is, can you type, using the type tool in photoshop with a "photo" font? is that a real thing?
That is what they say. But you can not scale as I understand. Why not try it?
Not new. These softwares are from Fontlab. You have to create a font with bitfonter (
http://www.fontlab.com/font-editor/bitfonter/) and save it as a photofont file (.phf) then you need a photofont plugin to make it work. The plugin is free for photoshop, indesign and xpress :

edit : oh, and no CS5 and 6 support for the plugin... too bad
Not that simple, indeed.

BUT you can make AMAZING things (with or without this plugin) :

Anyway, i think this kind of use is very rare and is more an illustration (even art) than a regular use, so does it worth making a (complex) font ?
kirksucks ha dicho vector is never going to be in full color.
Scalable OpenType Color fonts can be made with FontCreator from High-Logic.

There is also a video that shows how to make 'm.

Dat was niet zo'n slimme opmerking fontsandmore. Er is een gering maar significant verschil tussen full color en scalable. De Nederwiet maar even laten liggen.
See
ScanFont 5:

Note that ScanFont 5 is a plug-in for other FontLab softwares, unlike
ScanFont 3, which is a stand alone font editor and, unfortunately, no longer for sale.
Microsoft added multi-color font support in Windows 8.1, and FontCreator is a font editor that allows you to make such colour fonts.
See for yourself:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J4BSK_ASOlw Yep, multi-color fonts are part of the 'new thing'... I haven't done any yet, as I'm not sure how much demand there really is for them for the time being.. or even how to classify them.
problem at my sense is choice for futur customer ... when is non-color black is really nice to make/create your color/visual

Maelle.K ha dicho when is non-color black is really nice to make/create your color/visual
"quand est non-couleur noire est vraiment sympa à faire / créer votre couleur / visuelle"
