Hi! I am a firefighter that is in charge of Pre-incident planning. I need to find a FONT that has some simple map building construction symbols. Stair case, Elevator, Electrical box, Fire Hydrant, FDC, Roof Access, Key Symbol, Underground tank, Alarm Panels, etc.

The NFPA symbols are Ok for some of these.

Please Help if you can!

I need some of these as well as a simple font that would represent a KEY , Fire Hydrant, Stair case, FDC, and electrical panel, ect.

Is there someone that would be able to draw all of the Fonts we would be interested in and put them under one Font title?? We have all of these symbols in MacDraft but the computer is so old that I am unable to Zip it up and send it to anyone. I could scan a hard copy and send it to someone.

Can you export to pdf, dwg or dxf ?

It says I can export to: PNG, BMP, JPEG, TGA, TIFF, SGI Image & Quick Time Image

these are all raster file format .. to make a font we need vector files. Do you have these symbols in a pdf file for instance?
A raster at a big size can be vetorized, but the result sometimes suck. Try exporting them in PNG, in googd quality, we'll have a look.

I tried exporting to the PNG format and they didn't come up when I opened it on the PC. They do come up as a JPEG but you can tell the quality is not as good anymore. I would love to draw these or have someone draw them that knows what they are doing. This is not my area of expertise. I appreciate all the help!

Export one as grayscale PNG and BMP at least 650 pixels high and post them here so we can see what you are talking about.

As these are all symbols with straight lines vectorizing should not be a problem I think.

ok, maybe you should post all the jpg, so we can evaluate the work to do (number of symbols, complexity,...) if we have to re-draw it.

The problem is how thick the lines in the font.

That is a pure vector claudeserieux, not an outline. That is why a bitmap is sometimes better to start with.

Yes, of course, but it is a single line, thickness determined by the vector properties. Not filled outlines as is digital type.

It's ideal for software cad.
