Can anyone advise a font that looks somewhat similar to the font Gram??
Having some issues with the font, but I think it looks great.

Could you let us know which issues you're having with the font ? Maybe it's a problem that can be solved.

Issue is on the android platform where the font creates several blank spaces " " where unintended.

Ok, thank you for the precision. You mean, blank spaces between letters ? Could you provide a screenshot ?

If you want something similar, just go for Helvetica
