I just finished a tshirt design commission that involved recreating this logo, and this was the first thread that popped up when specifically looking for the "magazine" font, so for any similarly tasked designers who stumble upon this thread in the future, I just wanted to let you know how I went about it. Basically, since the font is super simple lines, I was able to recreate it really easily just using stroke lines in Illustrator, with the ends rounded and the corners left sharp. I used the logo itself for line angle and length reference, and just copied those lines around to build the letters. It turned out really great looking and was much less hassle than trying to modify another font, which is what I was trying to do at first. Of course, it's not ideal if you're trying to write out paragraphs, but if you've just gotta spell out a single word for a logo spoof design, this is the way.
