I don't know... but i usually use Arial and edit with Ai to fix this kind of problem...

Hmm I've only just got back to this logo, and I've looked up franklin gothic heavy italic but it's a single line font not an outline like the logo I posted? Does this mean that the font has been edited to be an outline only? And if so how would I do this? Any help would really be appreciated!

If you use photoshop, then do a stroke effect by clicking on fx at the bottom of the layer pallet in photoshop, make sure the position is on outside and then play around with the size slider :-)
