I am just wondering if anyone knows of a font that is almost identical to the 'Opificio' font that is free or cheapish for logo use?

If you do not require the whole Opificio font family for your logo project, you could contact the publisher directly (http://www.monofonts.com/products/opificio/) and inquire about purchasing just a single font.

A web/software licence for the font family (which appears to consist of 10 fonts) is priced at 250 euros. Maybe they would consider 25 euros for a single font?

koeiekat... that's free for personal use; I believe the OP wants to use the font for commercial purposes.
